The entire bathroom was fully tiled with striking blue onyx-effect 600x600mm porcelain tiles, creating a dramatic and luxurious backdrop. Complimented by brushed brass fixtures throughout, the result was a cohesive and glamorous space that feels modern, serene, and spa-like.
Laying the Foundation: Blue Onyx 600×600 Tiles
The foundation of this bathroom design was the choice of tile. We used 600x600mm blue onyx-effect tiles, which offered the perfect balance between luxury and contemporary style. With their rich swirling patterns of deep blue, soft whites, and hints of gold, these tiles instantly elevated the space.
We tiled floor to ceiling for a seamless, immersive look. The reflective surface of the tiles added depth and light to the room, making it feel larger and more open despite the bold colour scheme. The drainage was subtly integrated and perfectly aligned to maintain the integrity of the tile pattern, and we ensured appropriate falls for efficient water runoff. Waterproofing was thoroughly applied using industry-leading tanking systems, ensuring durability and long-term reliability.
Elegant Shower Area: Brushed Brass Finishes by My Life
The shower space was defined using a My Life brushed brass pivot shower door, which added a touch of elegance and luxury without interrupting the visual lines of the room. This door not only looked stunning against the blue onyx tiles, but its sturdy build and smooth operation offered excellent functionality.
Within the shower, we installed a My Life brushed brass thermostatic exposed valve, which controlled both the overhead rain shower and handheld shower head. Both heads were finished in brushed brass, keeping the aesthetic consistent and luxurious. The exposed pipework—also in brushed brass—brought a traditional yet trendy industrial vibe, which contrasted beautifully with the polished modern finishes of the tiles.
Custom Tiled-In Niche: Practical Luxury
To add both functionality and flair, we built a custom tiled-in niche within the shower area. Framed with brushed brass metal tile trims, this niche provided a recessed shelf for shampoo bottles and soaps, eliminating the need for external storage units and keeping the space clutter-free.
Careful attention was paid to the placement and tiling of the niche. The blue onyx tiles were mitred and aligned so that the veining continued uninterrupted around the frame, creating a polished and bespoke look that clients and interior designers alike appreciate.
Statement Vanity: Wall-Mounted Brushed Brass Basin Tap & Edison Pan
The vanity area was another highlight of this renovation. We fitted a wall-mounted brushed brass basin tap from My Life, set against the onyx backdrop. The wall-mounted design kept the countertop clear and added to the bathroom’s streamlined appearance.
We paired the tap with a round LED mirror, which added a modern touch and provided excellent illumination for everyday grooming tasks. The mirror’s soft glow also created ambient lighting, perfect for relaxing evening routines.
Beneath the vanity sat a BTW (Back to Wall) Edison pan, chosen for its minimalist profile and clean lines. It tucked neatly into the space, creating a seamless look while maintaining easy access for cleaning and maintenance.
Finishing Touches: Cohesion in Every Detail
To ensure that the luxurious theme carried throughout the room, we paid special attention to the finishing touches.

Every brushed brass fitting—from the handheld shower, overhead shower, and thermostatic valve, to the pivot door handle—was carefully chosen for visual consistency and long-lasting quality.
Lighting & Atmosphere
While the LED mirror offered task lighting, we also fitted warm ambient ceiling lighting to give the room a cozy and inviting glow. Reflected by the polished blue tiles, the lighting created depth and movement, changing subtly throughout the day and adding an almost jewel-like shimmer to the walls.
We also ensured all lighting and electrical fixtures were IP-rated appropriately for bathroom zones, combining safety with style.
Technical Excellence Behind the Scenes
As with all our installations, what’s behind the walls is just as important as what you see on the surface. This bathroom was fully stripped back to its shell, with plumbing and electrical systems modernised to meet current building standards.
We reinforced walls to support the wall-hung basin and concealed pipework, ensuring long-term stability. All water connections were tested for leaks, and the wet room area was extensively tanked to prevent any future water ingress.
The finished bathroom not only meets but exceeds industry standards, with a finish that will last for many years to come.
