The Vision: Stylish Simplicity with a Pop of Colour
Our client in Tonbridge came to us with a clear vision. They wanted a modern bathroom with a calming, timeless aesthetic, but also something a little different — something that stood out without overwhelming the senses. We worked together to develop a design that combined classic grey tiling with a bold splash of colour through the use of blue metro tiles. The goal was to create a sophisticated and cohesive look that felt both contemporary and inviting.
Using 3D design software, we created visuals that allowed the client to picture the finished space before a single tile was laid. This is a key part of our process — making sure our clients are fully confident in the direction of the project before we begin.
Setting the Tone: Contrasting Tiles and Clever Layout
Tiles are a cornerstone of bathroom design, and in this project, they played a crucial role in shaping the atmosphere of the space. For the flooring, we selected grey tiles that offer durability while grounding the room in a clean, modern base tone.
On the walls, we introduced a clever contrast: half-height grey wall tiles paired with striking blue metro tiles. The metro tiles were installed at half height as well, offering a nod to traditional tile layouts while their vibrant hue adds energy and personality. The contrast between the subdued grey and lively blue creates a dynamic visual interest that draws you in as soon as you step into the room.
This thoughtful combination of textures and colours reflects the client’s desire for a room that felt unique without sacrificing elegance.
The Centrepiece: Malin SE 1700 x 700 Bath
A key feature in this bathroom renovation is the Malin SE 1700 x 700mm bath — sleek, spacious, and ideal for long soaks after a busy day. Its minimalist design fits perfectly within the modern scheme, and its generous size ensures both practicality and luxury. It’s a bath that doesn’t just look good, but one you’ll want to use every day.
Complementing the bath is the Meriden bath filler in brushed brass, with a stylish curved spout. This detail immediately elevates the entire bath area, providing a luxe feel that matches the rest of the brassware across the space.
Shower Area: Beauty Meets Function
We installed a Meriden 250mm round metal shower head, also in brushed brass, for a spa-like experience. This overhead shower delivers excellent water coverage and pressure, making for an indulgent showering experience every time.
To keep the area feeling open and spacious, we added a 6mm toughened safety glass screen with a brushed brass frame — offering both safety and aesthetic appeal. The transparent glass keeps the room looking large and uncluttered, while the brass details tie the whole design together with a consistent theme.
Vanity & Storage: Modern Meets Natural
To keep the space sleek and functional, we installed a 500mm 2-drawer Zola wall-hung vanity unit in a medium oak finish from Mylife Bathrooms. This unit is a standout feature, combining warm wood tones with modern lines. It adds a natural element to the room, softening the cooler tones of the tiles and creating a balanced palette.
Above the unit, we fitted a Zola 500mm ceramic basin, paired with a Meriden mono basin mixer tap and waste in brushed brass — again keeping with the consistent use of high-quality brass fittings throughout the room. The wall-hung design of the vanity unit also frees up floor space, making the room feel more open and easier to clean.
Craftsmanship & Attention to Detail
As with all our projects, attention to detail was paramount. Every fitting, tile, and surface was carefully measured, cut, and placed to ensure a flawless finish. Our installation team managed every element — from plumbing and tiling to electrical and finishing touches — ensuring everything came together on time and on budget.
